First BBQ 2010!

Forgot to write this post - been drafted ages ago! We had a great BBQ last weekend - it was so warm!
They love the trampoline - Lucy was in a great camera mode- completely un-photogenic!

First lollies too - home made mini-milks (frozen angel d-lite) that were wolfed down!!

Then we did some felt tipping - but amelia managed to 'look like a cheeky clown'. It took two days to be fully washed off!!

Ihavnt blogged about Lary Little Lucy's tantrums before - she is such a hot head little temper madam! She will actually just stand there and scream to get something - clenching her fists. She really is stroppy and has a right little temper! Will try to video some! She refuses to kiss anyone now...just shakes her head and smiles as if its all a big game! you would never know that behind those angelic eyes lurks a demon?? She has now said 'nanny', 'jack' and 'iris' - but still wont say Mummy (even though she can say it) and calls me Dada still!!
Have now painted Amelia's cast pink (should have done it straight away as that is the colour she wanted it!!) but it is unbelievable filthy and vile from food, garden mud etc! will be interesting to see how it has fared inside when it is taken off next week. She has been loving all the attention for it - but I think is now a little bored of the whole story and now just said' i fell over at Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaacks'

The Broken Arm

On Thursday we went round to Lou & Jack's and it was so lovely we ended up in the garden. Lucy absolutely loved the sand box and played happily for ages, Amelia & Jack were playing football (randomly kicking it at each other) when Amelia managed to stand on the football and fall over. She screamed the place down forages - wanted her blanket, which we didn't have and wanted to go home- which eventually we did - but she cried the whole way home (I ended up having to give her a piggy back home and push Lucy in the Maclaren) At home she wouldnt move the arm at all and couldnt lift it - but wasnt in any pain unless she was moving it so I gave them lunch and put them to bed. She woke up still in a lot of pain though so I decided to take her to A&E. Liz was coming over anyway - so when she arrived, we went. After waiting a while we saw a nurse and then a Doctor, who sent her to x-ray. She had some Calpol and it really seemed to be kicking in as she could move the arm pretty well in the x-ray. But when we saw the Doctor again after the x-ray he said 'I'm sorry to tell you that it isnt good news'! She has broken the elbow and there is a little piece chipped away. Luckily its a clean break and wont need surgery, so they put on a temporary cast and sent us home to get her full cast in the morning. She was just so good while we were there - friendly and chatty - you would not have thought that it was broken at all - I was so proud of how brave she was - she had the x-ray alone while I watched behind the screen in the room and sat still and didnt cry at all when they put on the cast. Unbelievably, Duncan was away while this happened - he hated not being here.

Amelia had a ok night, awake a little with her arm hurting, but she was ok. We went to the fracture clinic yesterday and after a farce where they removed her cast to get it x-rayed again and she had to hold it in a position that hurt her - she had her cast put on. Its brilliant, lightweight fibreglass and she is managing billiantly - though its already pretty dirty!! She will need it for two and a half weeks - so we will see how that goes!!

Eye Drops

Last night, foolishly, I showed Amelia how she could tip water out of her pink beaker cup - specifically on to duncan! She loved it and called it 'eye drops'!

Well as I was getting their clothes ready this morning, I heard it go quiet in Amelia's room, where they were standing by the bed (naked except Lucy's nappy) and had Erica on the bed, administering eye drops - both looked very guilty .. and it became clear that Amelia had given Lucy some 'eye drops' too - as she was soaked- and she had loved it!!

Another thing they love is tickling - Lucy especially. When Amelia has enough tickling and walks away.. Lucy then just tickles herself with her little 'ickle ickle' noise!

This is the result of having only a little bit of ice cream in two pots for pudding - Amelia wants to eat from the tub - like Mummy :) -
and so, of course, Lucy has to copy ... and I cant even remember how Amelia got a serving ladel - but they thoroughly loved it!!

And lastly - here is a loving incident between Lucy & Duncan - she hit him several times with a book and her hand - laughing savagly of course - before giving him a cuddle to say sorry - laughing the whole time!!

'Daddy - we found the shoe-honker under the Acopathory table'!!
The shoe horn .. under the apothacary table!

This is them playing the keyboard together ... Amelia actually helped Lucy to sit on her lap and play - what a sister!!

Flu Jabs

This week the girls had their flu jabs. Lucy had had a booster the week before...and had cried A LOT, which had scared Amelia, so I was worried how she would be. But I spoke to her about it and we decided that she would go first, To show Lucy how it is done. I explained it might hurt a little, but she had to be brave for Lucy. So when it was time,we went to the Doctors. Amelia was dissapointed already, as the nurse was waiting and she didnt get to look at the books in the waiting room (which are old and cack!!) so we were straight in there. Lucy sat on my lap and Amelia in the chair next to me. The nurse was great and just got on with it. I held Amelias hand and she had the jab - her little face looked at me the whole time and her eyes grew big and she did that funny little smile that she does when she isnt sure about something and her hand shook. I could tell she wanted to cry - but she didnt. She was just so brave - I cannot describe how proud of her I was. She picked some stickers while Lucy had hers - and she cried - but only a little. Poor little monleys - and Lucy has her MMR in a few weeks - just in time for her reaction to be around my birthday!!
We have had a lovely weekend in the sun - getting loads done in the garden. Since Friday, unless the girls are eating or sleeping, we have been in the garden since they have been dressed - and we are getting through some gardening clothes!! We made Amelia a 'muddy puddle' which has clearly ruined the grass! Its near the water butt (which she can now turn on) and both of them have been jumping in it! We have been colouring, moon sanding, play dohing, and they have been helping with planting, digging etc - just love getting them in the garden - its so much fun. Just cant wait for some really warm weather so we can get the water out!!

' Dont worry love. Its not the end of the world' (when Lucy riuned my moonsand castle!!)
